Agony

Description

This picture really means a lot to me. I've started with it back in spring 2011. I've studied male anatomy, muscle and sinew building quite intently. It was then, when my love for hands and gestures developed (hands alone can tell their stories). Furthermore, I was really captivated by the bible at that time, so I wanted to draw a scene from there, but since now I don't want to create sacral art I named it simply 'agony'.
So, eventhough the process of creating the concept took me so many hours, I've dropped the work just after drawing the base. Over the next two years I've started to colour it hesistantly. It was like I was scared to screw it up, so I never had the courage to actually finish it.

And now after almost 4 (!!) long years I took it out and finished it. The base remained the same since the beginning, but I decided to recolour it. I'm a huge fan of the chiaroscuro technique and I hope, you can feel some of the baroque vibes I've put into it. ;]

Whoa!  Congrats on finishing it.  Looks great!  I too have taken "my time" in finishing certain pieces.  Very cool.  Thanks for sharing.
